Being more articulate

Had a really good conversation with Greg today, in which he gave me some very helpful insight into my leadership. Be more ariculate… Granted it is sort of my style to answer questions with questions or to wonder about things. “What if this was the case?” or “Perhaps this…” I don’t want to change that too much.

As Peter said,

…in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

It might be helpful if people got a straight answer from me. I want my reasons to line up with my actions and vice versa. So I am going to start putting some things together. I will try to describe better where I am NOW and WHY. I will try to describe why what I believe about certain things implicate a certain action by me. Not everyone will agree or understand, but at least I will have articulated.

I will work on them off the blog and if people give me some ideas in the comments here, I will post. I’ll start with why I don’t vote (being more direct than I have before) and what I believe about “the church.”

Any other ideas?

  1. Thanks, dude. Yah, I read that one and found it to be very interesting. I will use some of the material there and in the links as I clarify my thoughts on this. Talk to you soon,

  2. Hi Nate–
It was great to see your comment on the Virtual Tea House tonight. Love making these connections–it’s so fun! I really admire Phil and Mark…it’s nice to have mutual friends!

After just poking around a little bit on your blog, I think what I’d like to know more about is why you have been so measured in your responses–really dig into that. The point you make of always trying to elicit more response(s) from others is a good one–truly a masterful way of connecting. But there is a time, and it looks like Greg has helped you identify it, when being measured and thoughtful and running everything through many filters and channels before it comes out of our mouths begins to feel dishonest and lacking in joy.

So I’d like to know more about why you’ve been living ‘there’ and how it might feel to move out from that place!

Take care, and hope to see you round the Virtual Tea House, too!
